HYDEX 4101 & 4101L
PBT-P
(PolyButylene Teraphalate Polyester)

Specifications
HYDEX™ 4101 & 4101L (lubricated) is a very stable chemical
compound that can withstand high impact without deterioration. It is
approved for direct contact with food by the FDA and is ideal for machined
parts in food processing equipment. HYDEX™ 4101 has excellent resistance to
typical cleaning chemicals such as chlorine and caustic solutions and has a
very low moisture absorption rate, as much as 15 times less than nylon.
TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION
Hydex® 4101 is manufactured from PolyButylene
Terephthalate polyester (PBT-P) resin. It is a semi-crystalline thermoplastic.
This material is manufactured from Celanex® resin.
GENERAL PROPERTIES
Hydex® 4101 offers excellent mechanical
properties combined with good chemical resistance. PBT-P has good impact
resistance and toughness, low coefficient of friction & wear, and does not
need lubrication. It also is resistant to chemicals, chlorine, water, and
steam.
Hydex® 4101 is available in FDA-approved white and
non-FDA black colors.
Hydex® 4101L is an internally-lubricated version
designed for use in higher wear resistance, PV range and lower coefficient of
friction applications.
Both Hydex® 4101 and 4101L are approved for direct
food contact (FDA, USDA, and 3A Dairy compliant).
KEY PROPERTIES
• No center line porosity • Superior chemical resistance • Low coefficient
of friction • Good impact strength and ductility • Hard and durable surface
• FDA, USDA, 3A Dairy approved grades • Replaces brass, aluminum, steel, UHMW,
acetal
TYPICAL APPLICATIONS
• Food piston pumps • Valves and valve bodies • Feeder blocks • Timing
screws • Gears • Cams • Bushings and bearings • Wear strips • Fuel pump
components • Fuel system connectors and rotors
HYDEX® 4101 & 4101L (lubricated) exhibits a broad range of outstanding
properties for a variety of applications, especially in the food processing
industry. It is ideal for applications such as cams, bearings, gears, food
pistons, wear strips, scraper blades, valve bodies and conveyor components.
