In medical equipment, for example, metal components are increasingly being replaced by high quality plastics: Today the aluminium handle of an ultrasonic drill is being produced to an increasing extent from the ENSINGER high temperature thermoplastic, TECAPEEK. The result is not only easier handling thanks to the significant reduction in weight but also a less expensive production method since, in contrast to the aluminium production method, major manufacturing steps can be performed simultaneously using the injection moulding process.
